VOLZ Raises $5 Million in Landmark Funding Round for Algerian Travel Tech

Algerian travel-tech startup VOLZ has raised nearly $5 million (600 million Algerian dinars) in a funding round led by a consortium of private investors under the leadership of Tell Group, with participation from Groupe GIBA – Babahoum Industrial Group Algeria. The round, announced during the African Startup Conference in Algiers in December 2025, is the largest ever raised by an Algerian startup in local currency and marks a major milestone for the country’s startup ecosystem.

The transaction also represents the first successful exit for the Algerian Startup Fund (ASF), established in 2020, delivering a return of more than 3.35x on its initial investment. This outcome reinforces growing confidence in local-currency fundraising and the maturity of Algeria’s emerging venture ecosystem.

Founded in 2023, VOLZ has recorded more than 1,000 percent growth within a single year by addressing long-standing challenges in Algeria’s air travel booking market. The platform allows customers to book flights in Algerian dinars, offering both online and cash-on-delivery payment options, while providing access to multiple airlines and enhanced customer support. This locally adapted model has helped overcome currency, payment, and transparency barriers that have limited the effectiveness of global travel platforms in the Algerian market.

VOLZ’s growth has been driven by its focus on digitising a traditionally fragmented and manual sector, improving efficiency and trust for travellers. The company operates under the mission of “Giving Back the Power to the Traveller,” shaping its product design and customer experience strategy.

With the new funding, VOLZ plans to strengthen its position in Algeria and accelerate expansion into North and West Africa. The company is also preparing to launch a corporate travel offering aimed at helping businesses manage and optimise employee travel, broadening its reach beyond leisure travel and positioning itself as a regional travel-tech platform.
