The UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has partnered with Microsoft to explore the use of artificial intelligence and cloud technologies to enhance higher education and research outcomes across the country.
The collaboration will focus on developing prototype AI agents using Microsoft Azure and cloud AI capabilities, aimed at improving learning experiences, academic collaboration and research alignment with national priorities. The initiative includes four key AI applications: lifelong learning and skills progression support, faculty enablement and course co-creation, personalised student learning assistance, and research alignment with national development goals.
The partnership will also explore broader opportunities in data analytics, machine learning and AI integration through a participatory design approach involving faculty, students and industry stakeholders. Officials noted that the initiative supports the UAE’s ambition to strengthen innovation, advance research capabilities and prepare students for a knowledge-based economy.
The collaboration reflects ongoing efforts to embed AI across the education ecosystem while reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global hub for innovation and advanced research aligned with national development strategies.
