Qatar: NPC announces plans to adopt AI tech

Qatar’s National Planning Council (NPC) has announced plans to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies as part of an enterprise-wide transformation aimed at improving operational efficiency and strengthening data-driven decision-making.

The initiative, unveiled on the sidelines of Web Summit Qatar 2026, focuses on three main priorities: expanding the use of Microsoft 365 Copilot across the organisation, integrating AI-powered tools to enhance departmental performance, and positioning the NPC as an AI-driven institution. The rollout is intended to streamline routine tasks, automate repeatable processes and improve productivity across the Council’s operations.

In collaboration with Microsoft, the NPC is also identifying key areas where AI can support workflow optimisation and institutional performance, supported by governance frameworks designed to ensure responsible and secure adoption. The move aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the country’s Third National Development Strategy 2024–2030, reinforcing AI as a core component of public sector digital transformation.

Officials described the initiative as part of broader efforts to embed AI capabilities across government functions, enabling more efficient policy development and modernised institutional operations.
