Morocco is advancing its digital government agenda through new cooperation agreements aimed at developing a national digital wallet integrated into the Idarati X.0 platform, with French digital identity company iDakto and biometric authentication provider ShareID among the key partners supporting the initiative.
The project, led by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform (MTNRA), forms part of a six-month implementation plan designed to streamline public service delivery through a unified digital identity framework. The digital wallet will be integrated into the Idarati X.0 super-app, enabling citizens to access and complete administrative procedures directly through a single mobile interface.
Built on Morocco’s existing digital government infrastructure, the new platform aims to reduce duplication across government systems, simplify administrative workflows, and improve digital interaction between citizens and public institutions. Authentication will rely on the electronic national identity card (CNIE), developed in cooperation with iDakto, Idemia, and the General Directorate of National Security.
The cooperation framework also includes participation from the Moroccan Society for Electronic Services, the National Commission for the Protection of Personal Data (CNDP), and the Digital Development Agency (ADD), reflecting a multi-stakeholder approach combining public and private sector expertise.
The initiative aligns with Morocco’s broader Digital Morocco 2030 strategy, which seeks to strengthen digital public infrastructure and position the country as a regional digital transformation hub. Authorities aim to build on existing digital government services while addressing operational challenges such as inter-administration coordination and change management, which officials have identified as key barriers to large-scale digital transformation.
