Morocco has signed cooperation agreements with public and private partners, including digital identity firm iDakto and biometric authentication provider ShareID, to develop a national digital wallet as part of its broader digital government transformation strategy. The initiative is led by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and forms part of the country’s Digital Morocco 2030 roadmap.

The new digital wallet will be integrated into the Idarati X.0 platform, an upgraded version of Morocco’s existing digital government portal. The super app is designed to enable citizens to access and complete administrative procedures directly through a mobile platform, reducing duplication, simplifying public service processes, and improving interactions between citizens and government institutions.

The digital wallet will be linked to Morocco’s electronic national identity card system, developed in collaboration with iDakto, Idemia, and the General Directorate of National Security. The platform aims to strengthen digital identity integration across services while improving authentication and security through biometric technologies.

Additional partners in the cooperation framework include the Moroccan Society for Electronic Services, the National Commission for the Protection of Personal Data, and the Digital Development Agency. The initiative also reflects ongoing efforts to enhance cybersecurity and streamline public administration following recent digital security challenges.

The project is expected to undergo testing within six months, with the government aiming to expand digital service delivery and position Morocco as a regional hub for digital transformation and innovation across Africa.
