ADN Telecom, a leading IT and telecommunications services provider, has acquired a 37% stake in Senior Citizen Healthcare Limited, a company that operates specialized hospitals for the elderly in Bangladesh. The investment, amounting to around Tk10 crore, is aimed at expanding Senior Citizen Healthcare’s services, particularly into rural areas, by leveraging ADN Telecom’s telecom expertise.
Senior Citizen Healthcare, which currently operates in Dhaka, plans to broaden its reach, targeting the growing $3 billion digital healthcare market in Bangladesh. With this move, ADN Telecom is diversifying its portfolio beyond the telecommunications sector, which has been experiencing stagnation in the country.
The partnership will bring advanced technologies such as Robotic Rehabilitation, Biofeedback therapy, and AI-based health assessments to elderly patients. The collaboration will also facilitate the expansion of Senior Citizen Healthcare’s operations to remote areas, ensuring better access to healthcare through digital services like telemedicine and video calls.
Professor Dr. Samnun F Taha, founder of Senior Citizen Healthcare, expressed confidence in the role technology will play in the future of healthcare in Bangladesh, particularly in making services more accessible and cost-effective. The partnership aims to enhance the healthcare system’s efficiency, reduce costs, and provide affordable treatment to the elderly, who will be prioritized in the technology-driven services.
ADN Telecom’s decision to enter the digital healthcare market aligns with its strategy to diversify and tap into new growth opportunities as the telecommunications business faces challenges in the country. The company is also working on expanding healthcare operations through a call center and hotlines.
