KUWAIT CITY, April 14 – Kuwait’s Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Omar Al-Omar, has announced a strategic partnership with Google Cloud to develop a cutting-edge national platform for digital integration. The platform, which will be based on global best practices, is designed to securely connect government systems in a scalable, institutional framework to meet the nation’s evolving digital needs.
Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) following the launch of the “Apigee Roundtable” discussion session for government leaders, Al-Omar emphasized the importance of the collaboration, which brings together key government officials and decision-makers. Organized by Google Cloud in partnership with the Ministry of State for Communications and Information Technology, the session focused on advancing Kuwait’s digital transformation.
Al-Omar further explained that the initiative goes beyond its technical dimensions, aiming to build a cohesive, user-centric system that enhances the digital experience. This project aligns with Kuwait’s “New Kuwait 2035” vision, ensuring a seamless and efficient digital journey for citizens and residents alike.
The success of the platform will depend on strong collaboration between various government agencies, each playing a critical role in shaping the country’s digital infrastructure, Al-Omar added. The Minister also noted that Kuwait is entering a new phase of digital integration, where unified efforts and partnerships will be essential to improving government performance and the quality of digital services.
Shaima Al-Terkait, Director of Google Cloud in Kuwait, also highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating that it supports Kuwait’s ambitious digital transformation and aligns with Vision 2035. The partnership, she noted, will empower both government and private sector institutions with advanced cloud solutions to enhance services and drive the digital economy forward.
Al-Terkait further emphasized that the central digital platform will enable seamless data exchange between government agencies, reducing administrative hurdles, speeding up transactions, and improving operational efficiency.
Rao Surapaneni, Vice President of Platforms and Applications at Google Cloud, expressed confidence that the integration platform, powered by Apigee and Google Cloud’s cutting-edge solutions, in partnership with the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT), will streamline connections between government agencies. This will enable the delivery of smoother, more efficient services to citizens and residents.
Surapaneni also highlighted the role of the platform in fostering a secure and advanced environment for managing government data. This will not only enhance innovation capabilities within both the public and private sectors but also accelerate the digitization process, ultimately supporting Kuwait’s goal of building a sustainable, thriving digital economy.
