In a groundbreaking move for artificial intelligence and global cooperation, leading technology giants G42, OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, SoftBank, and Cisco have joined forces to develop Stargate UAE—a state-of-the-art AI infrastructure cluster situated within the newly established 5-gigawatt UAE–U.S. AI Campus in Abu Dhabi.
Stargate UAE, comprising a 1-gigawatt compute cluster, will be constructed by G42 and operated jointly by OpenAI and Oracle. This collaboration also includes Cisco, providing zero-trust security and AI-ready connectivity solutions, SoftBank, and NVIDIA, which will supply cutting-edge NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GB300 systems. The facility is set to offer world-class infrastructure, nation-scale computing power, and low-latency AI inferencing capabilities designed to meet the needs of an increasingly intelligent world. The initial 200-megawatt cluster is expected to become operational in 2026.
The UAE–U.S. AI Campus was officially announced last week in Abu Dhabi in a ceremony attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and former U.S. President Donald J. Trump. This initiative stems from the “U.S.-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership,” a framework designed to strengthen bilateral cooperation on AI and advanced technologies focused on safe, secure, and responsible AI development that benefits humanity long-term. As part of this agreement, UAE entities will also expand investments in U.S.-based digital infrastructure projects such as Stargate U.S., aligned with the “America First Investment Policy.”
Covering 10 square miles, the AI infrastructure campus will be the largest deployment of its kind outside the U.S., providing 5 gigawatts of data center capacity and regional computing resources. To minimize environmental impact, the facility will utilize nuclear, solar, and natural gas power sources. It will also house a science park dedicated to fostering innovation, talent development, and sustainable computing infrastructure.
Leaders’ Perspectives
Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42, stated, “The launch of Stargate UAE is a significant milestone in the UAE–U.S. AI partnership. As a founding partner, we are proud to collaborate with institutions that share our commitment to responsible innovation and meaningful global progress. This initiative builds a bridge rooted in trust and ambition to deliver AI benefits to economies and societies worldwide.”
Sam Altman, Co-founder and CEO of OpenAI, remarked, “By establishing the world’s first Stargate outside the U.S. in the UAE, we are turning a bold vision into reality. This marks the first major milestone of our OpenAI for Countries initiative to build AI infrastructure globally with allies and partners. This effort aims to ensure that breakthroughs in safer medicines, personalized learning, and modern energy come from more places and serve the world.”
Masayoshi Son, Chairman and CEO of SoftBank, added, “When we unveiled Stargate in the U.S. alongside OpenAI and Oracle, our goal was to build the engine for the next information revolution. The UAE is now the first country beyond America to embrace this sovereign AI platform, showcasing the global nature of this vision. SoftBank is proud to support the UAE’s leap forward, proving that bold investments, trusted partnerships, and national ambition can create a more connected, joyful, and empowered world.”
