The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Oman has introduced a new regulatory framework to govern retail tariffs for telecommunications services, replacing the previous framework established by Decision No. 27/2016. This updated regulation encompasses detailed provisions on pricing for telecom services provided to individual consumers, businesses, and government entities.
The framework targets all licensed providers of public telecommunications services in the retail market and includes mechanisms to monitor and address pricing practices that could violate fair competition standards. Designed to align with global and regional telecom sector developments, the regulation aims to promote fair competition, ensure transparency, and protect the rights and choices of telecom beneficiaries in Oman.
This regulatory update comes amid rapid technological advancements and evolving business models in the telecommunications industry, underscoring the importance of tariff regulation to maintain market stability and safeguard consumer interests.
