Pakistan has crossed a major milestone with over 200 million telecom subscribers, marking significant progress in the country’s digital expansion, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced Thursday. The country also boasts more than 150 million broadband subscribers and two million fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) users, reflecting widespread growth in digital access.
To celebrate, PTA announced free 2GB data and 200 on-net call minutes for all mobile users on June 20, 2025, valid for 24 hours via dialing *2200#. Additionally, 200 locally assembled smartphones will be distributed by lottery among female SIM owners across Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Winners will be announced on PTA’s social media channels.
The PTA will also roll out free Wi-Fi hotspots for six months at select Higher Education Commission-recognized universities, including women’s universities, to promote digital empowerment among students.
Key telecom players including Jazz, Zong, Ufone, Telenor, PTCL, Cybernet, Wateen, Transworld, and Nayatel were acknowledged for their contributions to this achievement. Jazz, Pakistan’s largest digital operator with over 73 million users and 53 million 4G subscribers, celebrated the milestone, emphasizing its commitment to digital inclusion.
Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim stated, “Crossing 200 million subscribers is more than just a number — it symbolizes Pakistan’s digital evolution. We thank PTA for their support and remain dedicated to expanding connectivity nationwide.”
