Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, witnessed the signing of a renewed three-year cooperation agreement between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Arish University. This partnership aims to boost ICT skills among youth in North Sinai, equipping them for local and global job markets, with a focus on freelancing and entrepreneurship.
The agreement, signed by ITIDA’s CEO Ahmed Elzaher and Arish University President Hassan El Demerdash, targets training 7,200 individuals, including university students and young people across the governorate. The program provides specialized training in digital skills, cybersecurity, English, freelancing, and entrepreneurship. University students will also benefit from summer internships, support for graduation projects, and collaboration with the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI). Local trainers will be certified to ensure the initiative’s sustainability.
Minister Talaat reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering youth within their communities, eliminating the need for relocation. El Demerdash highlighted the expanded scope of the renewed agreement and the importance of the Creativa Innovation Hub in supporting this effort. ITIDA CEO Elzaher noted that the previous phase surpassed expectations by training over 2,200 youth, emphasizing ongoing dedication to developing Sinai’s digital talent.
