Gulf Business Machines (GBM), a leading digital solutions provider, has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Arab Open University (AOU) to enhance cybersecurity resilience and digital trust within the region’s education sector. The partnership aims to support secure digital learning environments amid rising cyberthreats targeting academic institutions.
Headquartered in Kuwait, AOU offers accessible blended learning across nine Arab countries, delivering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in fields such as Business Administration, IT, and Education. The agreement leverages GBM’s proprietary COR. platform and the vendor-agnostic GBM Shield framework to provide a full suite of cybersecurity services including Managed Detection and Response (MDR), 24×7 threat monitoring, threat hunting, digital forensics, and strategic advisory.
Prof. Omar Al-Jarrah, AOU’s Vice President for Planning and Development, emphasized the strategic importance of cybersecurity in safeguarding educational progress, enabling faculty and students to collaborate securely. Wassim Seliman, GBM Kuwait’s General Manager, highlighted the critical role of comprehensive cybersecurity in protecting academic data and fostering innovation.
This collaboration not only fortifies AOU’s digital infrastructure but also reflects GBM’s expanding leadership in securing public sector education institutions across Kuwait and the region. By embedding intelligent, layered cybersecurity, the initiative aims to deliver secure, uninterrupted digital learning experiences and drive academic excellence for future generations.
