Batelco, part of the Beyon Group, has launched Basma, a new digital assistant powered by advanced generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology. This innovative assistant aims to enhance customer experience and provide digital assistance via Batelco’s app and website, offering 24/7 support.

Basma interacts with users in both English and Arabic through voice and chat conversations directly within the Batelco mobile app and website. It is designed to understand users’ needs and provide efficient, real-time solutions. Basma’s capabilities include responding to FAQs, bill inquiries, usage inquiries, package and device installments, fiber order tracking, line reconnection, add-on activation, and more.

The AI-powered system behind Basma continuously learns and improves, ensuring increasingly accurate and relevant assistance over time.

On Thursday, July 25, 2024, Basma was introduced by Batelco General Manager Consumer, Aseel Mattar, during a press conference at Beyon headquarters, attended by Batelco’s Chief Executive Officer Maitham Abdulla and numerous media members eager to learn about this latest innovation. Batelco Head of Digital Channels, Khaled Alayoobi, showcased Basma’s capabilities through a live demonstration.

“The introduction of Basma is a key initiative within Batelco’s digital transformation, reflecting our forward-thinking approach and dedication to staying at the forefront of technological advancements,” said Aseel Mattar. “As the first AI-powered digital assistant in Bahrain’s telecom sector, Basma will elevate the way customers interact with and experience Batelco’s comprehensive range of services.”

Mattar added, “Batelco has designed Basma to be more than just a functional digital assistant – she is a trusted companion, ready to assist customers with all their telecommunications needs. With Basma, Batelco customers can now enjoy high-level support and convenience around the clock.”

Customers are encouraged to update the Batelco App to start interacting with Basma.
