UK and Dubai-based XDS DATACENTRES (XDS), a pioneer in liquid immersion cooling technology, has signed a 15-year strategic agreement with ICS Arabia to design, build, and deliver two state-of-the-art 10MW immersion-cooled data centers in Riyadh and Jeddah by Q4 2026. The project is part of ICS Arabia’s Desert Dragon technology ecosystem and supports Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation ambitions.
The facilities will leverage Desert Dragon’s Tier III certified infrastructure combined with immersion cooling technology, enabling rack densities up to 368kW. This cutting-edge design targets high-density, GPU-intensive workloads such as AI, machine learning, blockchain, GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS), cloud-native compute, and hyperscale edge deployments. Redundant N+N power and cooling systems and high-capacity network interconnectivity will ensure operational excellence.
XDS clients in Saudi Arabia will benefit from 99.982% uptime, fully managed colocation, flexible power options, private cloud, server conversion, customer rack migration, engineering support, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, and Software-as-a-Service offerings.
This collaboration marks a milestone in building sustainable, sovereign digital infrastructure aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, advancing national cloud initiatives and enterprise AI workloads requiring scalable, low-latency compute capacity. Following XDS’s successful immersion-cooled facility in Dubai, this expansion solidifies its leadership in high-density liquid cooling across the GCC.
Ghufran Hamid, CEO of XDS, highlighted immersion cooling as an inevitable evolution for data centers facing rising demand for sustainable, high-performance AI infrastructure. Abdullah Ayed Al Mazny, General Manager at Desert Dragon (ICS Arabia), emphasized the partnership’s role in delivering cutting-edge data center capabilities aligned with Saudi Arabia’s digital sovereignty goals.
