Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Alswaha, conducted high-level meetings in Paris with leading French research bodies and technology firms to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), deep technologies, space, and data governance.
The visit supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 ambitions to fast-track emerging technology adoption and enhance its research and innovation ecosystem.
In discussions with Bruno Sportisse, CEO of the French national research institute Inria, Alswaha explored partnerships in AI, robotics, quantum computing, establishing joint research labs, researcher exchanges, and talent development initiatives.
Alswaha also met Arthur Mensch, CEO of Mistral AI, to discuss collaboration on open-source large language models (LLMs) and generative AI advancements.
A meeting with CNIL President Marie-Laure Denis focused on data protection, AI regulatory frameworks, and best practices in data governance, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s commitment to responsible and forward-looking tech policies.
Additionally, the Saudi delegation engaged with Patrice Caine, Chairman and CEO of Thales Group, exploring cooperation in smart systems and space technologies to bolster the Kingdom’s digital infrastructure and high-tech industry capabilities.
