During the 5th High-Level Algerian-Italian Government Summit held alongside Algerian President H.E. Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s official visit to Italy, Algeria’s Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Mr. Sid Ali Zerrouli, and Italy’s Minister of Enterprises and Industry, Mr. Adolfo Urso, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation in postal and telecommunications services.
The agreement focuses on developing telecommunications infrastructure, especially international bandwidth and undersea cable networks, improving postal and communication services, and ensuring their continuity under all circumstances. It also includes initiatives to boost human capital via technical workshops and training programs for experts from both countries.
Bilateral cooperation will be reinforced by encouraging partnerships between telecom operators to enhance international interconnectivity, mobile data expansion, cloud computing, 5G deployment, and IoT solutions. The MoU further seeks collaboration on data protection, cybersecurity, radio communications, spectrum management, and innovation promotion.
Mr. Zerrouli highlighted the evolving Algeria-Italy partnership as a forward-looking alliance aimed at building a connected, secure, and innovative future. He emphasized that sovereignty now extends beyond physical borders to digital infrastructure and data, calling for their relations to become a pioneering model of digital integration and cooperation that strengthens both nations’ digital sovereignty.
He concluded by committing to ensuring effective implementation of the MoU’s provisions, with Algeria dedicated to advancing cooperation based on mutual benefit and shared progress.
