Omantel Profit Jumps 46% in H1 2025 on Lower Royalty Fees

Omantel, Oman’s largest telecom operator, reported a 46% year-on-year surge in first-half net profit to $417 million, up from $286 million in 2024. Revenue climbed 9.5% to $4.2 billion.

The profit boost follows the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority’s move to cut royalty fees for telecom providers from 12% to 10%, effective from the 2025 financial year. The change benefits Omantel alongside Ooredoo Oman, Vodafone, and Awasr.

In a bourse filing, Omantel said the decision will reduce royalty expenses and positively impact net profit for the rest of the year. Founded in 1987 and majority-owned by the Oman Investment Authority, Omantel offers mobile, fixed-line, internet, wholesale, data centre, and software services.
