Zain Kuwait Launches AI-Powered Digital Assistant for Wireless Site Engineers

Zain Kuwait has unveiled its Digital Assistant for Wireless Site Engineers, becoming the first operator in the region to embed artificial intelligence into telecom operations and maintenance. Developed in partnership with Huawei, the initiative aligns with Zain’s broader strategy to strengthen network infrastructure, drive digital transformation, and reinforce its leadership in the ICT sector.

The new solution, FME Mate, is powered by large language model (LLM) technology. It diagnoses fault causes, recommends instant repair actions, and enables engineers to interact with systems using natural language instead of complex commands. This simplifies access to fault data and connection topologies, improving efficiency in over 90% of cases and boosting fault-handling speed by more than 20%. Zain projects the system will reduce site downtime by more than 2,250 hours annually.

Daaij Al-Oud, Chief Technology Officer at Zain Kuwait, emphasized the milestone:
“The launch of the Digital Assistant solution for wireless site engineers reflects Zain’s strategic commitment to accelerating the pace of digital transformation within our technical infrastructure, employing the latest technology solutions to enhance efficiency. It is a pivotal step toward building smarter, more efficient, and more reliable networks.”

By leveraging generative AI, Zain is moving toward proactive network operations, ensuring service continuity while setting a new standard for intelligent maintenance in the region. The company stressed that this innovation not only benefits consumer, corporate, and government customers but also contributes to Kuwait’s ambition of becoming a regional digital economy hub.
