The latest Speedtest Global Index has revealed that the United Arab Emirates continues to lead the world in mobile internet speed, while Singapore dominates in fixed broadband performance.
According to the index, the UAE recorded an average mobile download speed of 584.97 Mbps, followed by Qatar (507.47 Mbps) and Kuwait (413.57 Mbps). These Gulf states remain at the forefront of mobile connectivity, reflecting major investments in 5G and advanced telecom infrastructure.
For fixed internet, Singapore ranks first with 386.96 Mbps, followed by Chile (332.41 Mbps) and Hong Kong (324.97 Mbps).
Western Balkans Overview
The report also highlights performance in the Western Balkans:
- North Macedonia has the region’s fastest mobile internet at 161.53 Mbps.
- Serbia leads in fixed broadband with 92.21 Mbps.
- Bosnia and Herzegovina lags behind, with the slowest mobile (29.65 Mbps) and fixed (35.71 Mbps) internet speeds in the region.
Kosovo and Albania Rankings
- Kosovo: Mobile internet at 97.43 Mbps (45th globally) and fixed internet at 82.24 Mbps (82nd).
- Albania: Mobile internet at 104.11 Mbps (41st) and fixed internet at 84.64 Mbps (76th).
The data underscores both the rapid digital transformation of Gulf nations and the uneven pace of connectivity across different regions, particularly in parts of the Balkans.
