Abu Dhabi–based technology group G42 is moving to reduce its reliance on Nvidia by pursuing partnerships with alternative chipmakers and securing major U.S. tech tenants for its upcoming UAE-U.S. AI campus, according to a Semafor report.
The group is in active talks with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Meta, and Elon Musk’s xAI to join the data center project. Google is reportedly the furthest along in negotiations. On the hardware side, G42 is exploring supply deals with AMD, Cerebras Systems, and Qualcomm to supplement computing capacity at the facility, diversifying beyond Nvidia.
The AI campus was first announced during U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to the UAE in May, as part of broader bilateral deals worth over $200 billion. The initiative reflects both Washington and Abu Dhabi’s ambition to position the Emirates as a global hub for advanced AI research and infrastructure.
Neither G42, AMD, Cerebras, nor Qualcomm have commented on the report, while Nvidia declined to issue a statement.
