Oman and Egypt Launch Landmark AI & Advanced Technologies Zone

A strategic alliance between Afouq Developments (Oman) and Prime Group (Egypt), in collaboration with Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT), has announced the creation of the “Artificial Intelligence & Advanced Technologies Zone.” The project was unveiled during the COMEX International Exhibition in Muscat and is set to become one of the region’s most ambitious initiatives for positioning Oman as a global technology and innovation hub.

Dr. Siham Al-Harthi, Chairperson of Afouq Developments, highlighted the project’s vision of blending cutting-edge global technologies with Omani architectural heritage. She emphasized that the Zone will provide an attractive environment for local and international tech start-ups, helping Oman take a leading role in future-ready industries.

Counselor Mahmoud Farrag, CEO of Prime Group, noted that global partnerships are already being forged to support the Zone’s development. Drawing on Prime Group’s track record in major international projects across Asia and Africa, he stressed that the Zone will serve as a global platform for advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, and investment opportunities.

The alliance reaffirmed its commitment to aligning the project with Oman Vision 2040, strengthening the nation’s competitiveness in the global technology landscape, and honoring the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

Oman’s AI & Advanced Technologies Zone is expected to set new benchmarks in innovation, research, and entrepreneurship, driving forward the country’s ambitions to be a regional powerhouse in digital transformation.

The initiative is seen as a turning point in attracting foreign investment, nurturing start-ups, and positioning Oman as a leading player in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

By integrating local vision with international expertise, the Afouq–Prime alliance aims to deliver a project that will resonate far beyond the Sultanate’s borders.

The Zone is envisioned not just as a technology cluster, but as a global symbol of Oman’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and economic diversification.
