Algerian Innovators Shine at Intra-African Trade Fair 2025 Competitions

Algerian start-ups and young entrepreneurs earned top recognition at the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF-2025), held at the Exhibition Centre of Algiers, where competitions highlighted Africa’s growing innovation ecosystem. The event showcased projects in artificial intelligence, technology, and healthcare digitisation, with Algeria standing out among participants.

In the technological innovation category, Algerian start-up Qareeb won first place with its “Q farming” solution, designed for smart agriculture. The platform provides real-time data on soil and weather conditions while enabling farmers to remotely manage irrigation systems, even in areas without network coverage.

Health-focused digital solutions were also in the spotlight during the fair’s hackathon. Algerian student Samia Bounab and her colleague Tamara Ndlovu secured second place with their project “Amira Fertility,” a platform for women’s health and pregnancy monitoring.

Meanwhile, entrepreneur Farah Bouras from Algeria took second place in the young start-up category for her platform aimed at reducing patient risks and monitoring potential drug interactions.

Organisers noted that the high standard of submissions across Africa underscored the continent’s vibrant entrepreneurial environment and the capacity of young innovators to compete on a global stage.
