Bahrain Parliamentarians Join Global Seminar on AI Use Cases for Legislatures

Manama’s parliamentary group participated in a virtual seminar titled AI Use Case Maps for Parliaments, organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) with contributions from international experts and several national parliaments. The event, held on September 23, 2025, explored how artificial intelligence can improve legislative processes and oversight.

Bahrain was represented by MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, Ali Husain Al Shehabi, Deputy Head of the Human Rights Committee of the Shura Council, and Abeer Al Obaidly, ICT Director at the Shura Council Secretariat.

The seminar reviewed practical applications of AI in parliamentary work, including enhancing data clarity through visualisations, managing large volumes of information with smart tools, facilitating comparisons for better decision-making, and mapping long-term AI use cases to support strategy. Ethical and legal challenges were also discussed.

Experts presented international best practices where parliaments have successfully integrated AI to improve efficiency, transparency, and services for legislators. Bahrain’s participation reflects its commitment to adopting modern digital tools to strengthen democracy and raise its global profile in legislative innovation.
