China Unicom Sees Europe as Key Partner in Data and AI Collaboration

China Unicom is looking to Europe as a strong partner in research, with opportunities centered on data reliability and data security, according to company executive Xue. She highlighted the work of the International Data Spaces Association in Dortmund, Germany, which is pioneering methods to make data trustworthy and enable cross-border sharing.

Despite geopolitical tensions, Xue expressed confidence in the future of international AI cooperation, stressing that global collaboration remains essential.

She compared telecommunications to basic utilities like water and electricity—fundamental services that support every individual and industry. “In this new wave of technological revolution, China Unicom sees it as both a responsibility and a strength to contribute Chinese wisdom to global AI governance,” she said.
