The Jordan School District has emerged as one of the first in the United States to adopt a comprehensive AI strategy for teachers, integrating artificial intelligence into classrooms since 2023 to boost teacher effectiveness and deepen student engagement.
At the heart of this initiative is the district’s partnership with SchoolAI, a platform designed to support both students and educators by tailoring tools to real classroom needs. Unlike traditional tech rollouts, the partnership placed educators at the center of the innovation process, ensuring their expertise directly shaped the platform’s evolution.
SchoolAI’s standout feature, called “Spaces”, provides interactive AI-powered sessions covering everything from AP-level studies and ACT prep to book and career explorations, language learning, and even simulated discussions with historical figures. Students can participate in moderated AI chats, helping them safely explore ideas while practicing higher-level thinking.
The platform offers over 1,000 activities, giving teachers access to dashboards for lesson planning, group instruction, individualized learning paths, and intervention tracking. This integration allows teachers to better oversee student progress while freeing up time to focus on instruction and mentorship.
“Our partnership with SchoolAI led to several innovations, including developing a tool that allows students to participate in a moderated chat with the AI bot,” said Jared Covili, Digital Teaching & Learning Administrator. “We believe in SchoolAI’s mission to support both students and teachers, and we are committed to using innovative tools to help our community succeed.”
By embracing AI early, Jordan School District has positioned itself as a national leader in educational innovation, setting a model for how technology can empower—not replace—teachers while helping students prepare for future academic and career challenges.
