Egypt PM Reviews Major Telecom and Digital Innovations at Cairo ICT 2025

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly toured the pavilions of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), Telecom Egypt, and Egypt Post during Cairo ICT 2025, the region’s leading technology and innovation event. The visit highlighted Egypt’s major digital infrastructure achievements and upcoming services across telecom regulation, connectivity, and digital finance.

NTRA Executive President Mohamed Shamroukh showcased two years of regulatory progress, including the July 2024 service allowing users to block unwanted marketing calls—used by 1.4 million subscribers and resulting in 500,000 violating lines being deactivated. He also highlighted Egypt’s October 2024 signing of 5G licenses worth $675 million, the rollout of Wi-Fi 6E, eSIM activation for 700,000 lines, Wi-Fi calling used for 4.9 billion calls, and the national IPv6 transition strategy. Biometric e-KYC services are set to launch in December.

Telecom Egypt CEO Tamer el Mahdi highlighted the company’s data centre capacity, along with its “WE Innovate” program aimed at training youth in cybersecurity and advanced technologies. At Egypt Post’s pavilion, Chairperson Dalia al-Baz revealed new digital financial solutions, including an upgraded “Easy Pay” app, Egypt’s first smart parcel-locker service “Post Collect,” and the upcoming “Felousi” app—Egypt’s first fully digital investment platform offering access to over 40 funds.
