Orange Morocco has inaugurated its new 1.5 MW “Orange Tech” data center in Casablanca, strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure and supporting Morocco’s expanding demand for cloud, hosting, AI, and cybersecurity services. Positioned as a strategic asset for national digital sovereignty, the facility advances Morocco’s broader digital ambitions under the Maroc Digital 2030 strategy and the New Development Model.
Built on a 15,000-square-meter site, the data center meets Uptime Institute standards and is designed for high availability, operational redundancy, and strong energy efficiency. More than 1,000 solar panels generate around 700 kWp, reducing the carbon footprint and supporting sustainable operations while enabling advanced workloads such as sovereign cloud, AI processing, and mission-critical hosting for businesses and public institutions.
Orange Morocco highlighted that the new facility reinforces its position as a trusted digital partner for enterprises and government agencies, offering enhanced service resilience, data security within national borders, and improved performance for essential applications. The launch also aligns with Orange’s broader regional strategy, including advancements in 5G, AI capabilities, and an expanded B2B services portfolio.
The opening comes at a time when Africa faces a significant data center capacity gap, representing less than 2 percent of global colocation supply as of mid-2023. The Casablanca site contributes to narrowing this gap and supports Morocco’s ambition to become a competitive digital hub in the region.
