Egypt’s Apparel Exports Cross $3 Billion Mark for First Time

Egypt’s ready-made garments industry has reached a historic milestone, with exports exceeding $3 billion for the first time, according to the Apparel Export Council of Egypt (AECE). Total garment exports reached approximately $3.1 billion between January and November 2025, representing a 22 percent increase compared to $2.5 billion in the same period last year.

Fadel Marzouk, Chairperson and CEO of AECE, said the record performance reflects strong development across the domestic apparel industry, driven primarily by capacity expansion within existing factories. These factories currently account for 63 percent of Egypt’s total garment exports. He noted that the achievement was realised without the full contribution of new foreign investments, many of which remain in preparation or early operational stages.

Marzouk highlighted that export data showed consistent improvement throughout the year, supported by the Export Council’s strategy to expand Egypt’s footprint in global markets. He also pointed to the government’s continued support for exporters, including policy measures aimed at strengthening competitiveness and boosting foreign currency inflows.

Monthly figures further underline the sector’s momentum. Garment exports in November 2025 rose by 18 percent year-on-year to $281 million. February recorded the highest growth rate at 30 percent, while July delivered the strongest monthly performance, with exports reaching $326 million.

Industry leaders believe the sector’s strong fundamentals, combined with ongoing coordination between exporters and government authorities, have reinforced Egypt’s position as a key regional hub for apparel manufacturing and exports.
