MEASAT and Mudah roll out new telehealth kiosks in remote Sabah

Malaysian satellite operator MEASAT and healthcare technology firm Mudah Healthtech have expanded their Sihat Xpress telehealth service to two additional rural villages in Sabah, bringing digital healthcare access closer to underserved communities.

New Sihat Xpress kiosks have been installed in Kg Manikulau near Ranau and Kg Bonor near Sook in collaboration with the Sabah State Treasury Department. Powered by MEASAT’s CONNECTme NOW satellite broadband service, the kiosks provide a critical healthcare connection for nearly 1,000 residents, nearby communities, and the local school.

The kiosks enable villagers to access guided self-care tools and on-demand doctor consultations, reducing the need to travel up to two hours to reach the nearest clinics in Ranau and Sook.

The initiative builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2024 between MEASAT and Mudah to deliver digital healthcare services via CONNECTme NOW hotspots to up to one million people in underserved rural and remote areas.

The partnership also includes plans to digitalise clinics with telehealth capabilities, allowing at least 1,000 doctors to support up to 2,000 Sihat Xpress kiosks over a two-year period.

MEASAT confirmed that Sihat Xpress is currently being rolled out across Sabah, Sarawak, and Peninsular Malaysia, with more than 1,000 clinics already digitalised since 2024 under the Madani MSME Digital Grant.
