Pakistan’s first fully Islamic digital bank launches on Garaj domestic cloud

ISLAMABAD – Raqami Islamic Digital Bank has launched as Pakistan’s first fully Islamic digital retail bank operating entirely on domestic cloud infrastructure, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital banking landscape.

The bank’s complete technology stack—including core banking systems, digital channels, and both Production (PR) and Disaster Recovery (DR) environments—has been deployed on JazzWorld’s Garaj platform. Garaj is a Tier III-certified domestic cloud infrastructure offering built-in redundancy, continuous monitoring, access governance and advanced threat detection capabilities.

Raqami was designed as a cloud-native institution from inception, eliminating legacy system constraints and establishing a scalable, high-performance foundation to support long-term digital expansion.

The fully hosted deployment enables the bank to maintain regulatory compliance, ensure high availability and operational resilience, and uphold stringent security standards, while simultaneously enabling rapid innovation and the rollout of next-generation digital financial services.

Shahzad Rasheed, President Enterprise Solutions at JazzWorld, said the launch demonstrates Garaj’s capability to host regulated financial institutions on secure, resilient domestic cloud infrastructure at national scale.

Umair Aijaz, CEO of Raqami Islamic Digital Bank, stated that deploying on Garaj provided the bank with a secure and scalable foundation, allowing it to accelerate innovation while maintaining rigorous operational and security standards.

The launch sets a new benchmark for cloud-hosted financial services in Pakistan and reinforces the growing role of domestic cloud infrastructure in supporting regulated digital banking operations.
