Mercedes-Benz Egypt has received new licenses from Egypt’s National Telecommunication Agency to provide Internet of Things (IoT) services for vehicles, marking a key step under the Digital Egypt strategy. The agreement was signed by NTRA CEO Mohamed Shamrukh and Mercedes-Benz Egypt President and CEO Stephanie Vols.
The initiative supports Egypt’s push to localize advanced global technologies and expand smart mobility solutions. The connected car services will enable navigation, real-time vehicle tracking, and emergency assistance features, while maintaining strong data protection and privacy standards. Authorities confirmed that the licenses were granted under strict technical and regulatory frameworks to ensure service quality and sustainability.
Officials said the move strengthens Egypt’s digital infrastructure and enhances road safety, operational efficiency, and overall user experience. With seven other global manufacturers already licensed for IoT vehicle services, Egypt is positioning itself as a regional hub for connected car technologies and automotive innovation.
