Skynopy, in collaboration with Safran Space, has won financing under the FASEP – Digital Infrastructures program to launch its SkyConnect Kenya project. The initiative integrates the Kenya Space Agency’s 4.5-meter S/X-band Earth observation antenna into Skynopy’s global ground station network.
The deployment leverages excess capacity at the KSA’s Nairobi site, enabling secure satellite operations through Skynopy’s Ground Station Stack technology. This first institutional-commercial integration allows optimized satellite communication, strengthens local space ecosystems, and demonstrates a model for replicating public–private partnerships in other regions with underutilized infrastructure.
Kenya Space Agency highlighted the project’s potential to build national space capabilities, foster innovation, and commercialize excess ground infrastructure, marking a milestone in sustainable and sovereign satellite connectivity.
