Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam visited the Telecom Staff College of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) and the satellite ground station of Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited in Gazipur to review ongoing activities and future plans.
During his visit, the minister urged officials to utilize unused land at the training centre in a planned manner to generate government revenue without disrupting current training programs. He instructed them to prepare a realistic project proposal promptly and emphasized that government assets should not remain idle. He also highlighted steps being taken to address the shortage of engineers and called for responsible action from concerned officials.
Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Abdun Naser Khan stated that the training centre would expand beyond government-only courses to include public and private participants, with plans to introduce internationally certified programs. Officials were asked to submit a clear 180-day action plan focused on modernization and transforming the institution into a centre of excellence. The minister also inaugurated a basic training course for new recruits and later inspected the satellite ground station.
