The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in Jordan held a ceremony in Amman to commemorate International Women’s Day, reaffirming its commitment to empowering women and supporting female entrepreneurship across the telecommunications and postal sectors.
The event took place under the patronage of Lara Al-Khatib, Chairperson of the Authority’s Board of Commissioners. It was attended by Nael Al-Adwan, Secretary General of the Authority, alongside members of the Board of Commissioners.
During the ceremony, Al-Khatib emphasized the Authority’s continued efforts to strengthen women’s participation in leadership and decision-making roles within the sector. She noted that women working in telecommunications and postal services have demonstrated strong professional capabilities, and highlighted the Authority’s commitment to fostering an enabling work environment that encourages creativity, equal opportunities, and career development for emerging female leaders.
The celebration featured a series of dialogue sessions with prominent female figures, along with cultural and awareness activities that highlighted the contributions of women in the telecommunications and postal sectors, both historically and in contemporary contexts. The programme also included a lecture exploring the role of women’s empowerment in promoting community awareness and sustainable development.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Al-Khatib presented certificates of appreciation and symbolic gifts to participants in recognition of their contributions and efforts in advancing the sector.
