Trinasolar Presents Smart Energy Solutions and Project Milestones at Solar & Storage Live Africa

Reinforcing its #1 Market Position in South Africa with a 2 GW Pipeline and Expanding Utility-Scale Partnerships

Trinasolar, a global leader in smart PV and energy storage solutions, showcased its integrated smart energy portfolio at Solar & Storage Live Africa, highlighting technologies designed to support reliable and scalable solar and storage deployment across the continent.

At the event, the company presented advanced solutions including the Vertex N 750W module, Elementa 3 energy storage system, TrinaTracker Vanguard 1P tracking system, and Trinabot automation technologies. These innovations aim to optimize performance, improve reliability, and deliver cost-effective renewable energy across utility-scale, commercial and industrial, and hybrid solar-plus-storage projects.

Trinasolar’s participation comes as it strengthens its leadership in South Africa’s solar market, where it currently holds the number one market share position. A key milestone underpinning this growth is the successful delivery of the 510MW Khauta Solar Project in the Free State Province, developed in collaboration with WBHO.

The Khauta project includes two major installations — Khauta South (352.5MW) and Khauta West (157.8MW) — demonstrating the scale and pace of solar expansion in the country. Trinasolar provided high-performance modules along with comprehensive technical, logistics, and aftersales support throughout the project lifecycle.

The company is also expanding its footprint through partnerships with leading developers, including a strategic collaboration with Mulilo. As part of this partnership, Trinasolar has secured a contract for the 220MW Orkney Solar Project, further reinforcing its position in the utility-scale segment.

Across its current and upcoming initiatives, Trinasolar is building a project pipeline exceeding 2 GW in South Africa, supporting the country’s growing demand for renewable energy and contributing to a more diversified and resilient energy mix.

“South Africa is entering a defining phase of solar growth, driven by rising electricity demand, expanding energy wheeling frameworks, and the rapid scale-up of commercial and industrial projects,” said Zaheer Khan, Regional Director – South Africa at Trinasolar MEA.

“Trinasolar is proud to be at the centre of this transition — combining advanced solar technologies, energy storage solutions, and large-scale project delivery expertise to help build a more resilient and cost-competitive energy future.”

Beyond technology deployment, Trinasolar continues to support local communities through initiatives such as wellness programs and sponsorship of sports activities, reflecting its commitment to responsible development and long-term impact.

As Africa’s energy transition accelerates, Trinasolar aims to remain a long-term partner for developers, EPCs, and energy providers, delivering the expertise and infrastructure needed to drive the next phase of renewable energy growth.
