Algeria and Niger have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation in telecommunications and digital technologies following high-level discussions in Niger. The meeting, held during the second session of the Algerian-Niger Joint Grand Committee for Cooperation, involved Algeria’s Minister of Posts and Telecommunications and Niger’s Minister of Communications, Aji Ali Salatou. The talks focused on enhancing regional connectivity and modernizing digital infrastructure to support both nations’ economic goals.
A primary emphasis of the partnership is the expansion of fiber optic networks and the strengthening of cross-border interconnections to improve the reliability of digital services. Beyond infrastructure, the two countries explored collaborative efforts in digital skills development, including the creation of training centers and capacity-building programs. Algeria also pledged to support Niger in rolling out new digital and postal services, sharing its expertise in building comprehensive national digital ecosystems to accelerate Niger’s technological advancement.
