Faysal Bank Launches Pakistan’s First Cardless ATM Withdrawal via Mobile NFC

Faysal Bank has launched a Mobile Tap and Withdraw service, enabling customers to withdraw cash from Faysal Bank ATMs by tapping an NFC-enabled smartphone rather than inserting a physical card — the first such capability offered by any bank in Pakistan.

The service operates through the Faysal Digibank mobile application. Customers digitise their Debit or Noor card within the app, which then uses tokenised digital credentials to authenticate ATM transactions via contactless NFC technology. The bank said the feature combines the security of tokenisation with the convenience of cardless access, bringing Pakistan’s ATM infrastructure in line with cardless withdrawal models already deployed in a number of international markets.

Faysal Bank framed the launch as part of a broader strategy to build a digital-first, 360-degree customer experience ecosystem, positioning itself as a technology innovator within Pakistan’s banking sector. No rollout timeline for expanding the service to ATMs beyond Faysal Bank’s own network was disclosed.

Editor’s Note: Cardless ATM access via mobile NFC is a meaningful step in Pakistan’s retail banking digitalisation, particularly as the State Bank of Pakistan continues to push financial inclusion through digital channels under its National Financial Inclusion Strategy. Watch whether competing banks move quickly to replicate the feature, and whether the technology eventually integrates with Pakistan’s Raast instant payment infrastructure.
