Oman MTCIT and Microsoft Launch Numo Startup Accelerator with Free Azure AI Credits

Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has launched the Numo–Microsoft for Startups Accelerator in partnership with Microsoft, providing eligible Omani tech startups with free access to Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and AI tools alongside technical mentorship and go-to-market support.

The programme targets software-based startups commercially registered in Oman and operating within the ICT sector, specifically companies that own their software products and have previously received less than $10,000 in free Azure credits. Educational institutions, government entities, and most service-based businesses are not eligible. Applications were open until 12 April.

Participating startups will receive Azure credits to accelerate product development, overcome technical constraints, and expand their digital solutions into new markets. The Numo platform — Oman’s national startup enablement portal under MTCIT — serves as the registration channel for the programme.

No cohort size, total credit value, or mentorship duration was disclosed. The initiative sits within Oman’s broader digital economy agenda under Vision 2040 and follows MTCIT’s active push to build structured support infrastructure for the sultanate’s emerging tech sector.

Editor’s Note: The Numo–Microsoft accelerator is a further data point in Microsoft’s widening footprint across Gulf government digital programmes — a thread that also includes the Egypt Supply Ministry talks published earlier in this session. Watch whether this programme evolves into a broader cloud adoption framework for Omani SMEs or a pipeline for government procurement of Azure-based solutions.
