Mobile internet consumption in Egypt has increased by 12%, according to data from the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), reflecting continued growth in digital usage across the country.
The rise is driven by increasing smartphone penetration, expanded network coverage, and growing demand for data-intensive services such as video streaming, social media, and digital payments. Mobile connectivity remains the primary gateway to the internet for millions of users in Egypt.
Telecom operators have been investing in network upgrades and capacity expansion to support this surge in data traffic, particularly as 4G usage continues to scale and preparations for next-generation technologies advance.
The growth in consumption also aligns with Egypt’s broader digital transformation efforts, where connectivity is enabling services across sectors including education, healthcare, and e-commerce.
Despite strong growth, challenges remain around network performance, affordability, and equitable access, particularly in rural areas. Addressing these gaps will be critical to sustaining long-term adoption.
Editor’s Note:
Rising data consumption highlights the growing reliance on mobile connectivity in Egypt. The next phase of growth will depend on infrastructure investment and the ability to monetise increasing data demand effectively.
