Strategic Partnership to Accelerate 5G Innovation
Advanced Communications and Electronic Systems Company (ACES), a leading Saudi-based technology innovator, and Radisys Corporation, a global leader in open telecom solutions, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to co-develop groundbreaking 5G ORAN (Open Radio Access Network) and small cell technology. This collaboration represents a significant step towards enhancing global 5G telecom capabilities, with a focus on creating open and scalable network solutions.
Co-Developing 5G Infrastructure Solutions
The partnership aims to develop ORAN-compliant 5G infrastructure solutions that will serve both domestic Saudi and international markets. A key component of this collaboration is the establishment of a dedicated joint lab, where Outdoor Radio Units (ORU) will undergo testing, proof-of-concept trials, and refinement of ORAN-based software tailored for small cell deployments. By combining Radisys’ software expertise with ACES’ deep understanding of the regional market, this partnership aims to drive scalable, efficient, and flexible 5G solutions that will enhance connectivity across the globe.
Supporting Saudi Vision 2030
Aligned with the ambitious goals of Saudi Vision 2030, the MOU also explores potential funding opportunities for further research and development. This strengthens both companies’ commitment to advancing global telecom infrastructure through open network standards, enhancing connectivity in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
Leadership Statements
Dr. Akram Aburas, CEO of ACES, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “We are thrilled to join forces with Radisys to accelerate the development of 5G small cell technology in Saudi Arabia.
