Borouge Partners with MBZUAI to Drive AI Innovation and Research Across Industries

Borouge has formed a strategic partnership with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) to advance collaborative research, knowledge transfer, and create student internship opportunities. This collaboration aims to foster innovation, particularly in AI and digitalization, supporting Borouge’s growth across industries such as energy, healthcare, infrastructure, mobility, advanced packaging, electrification, and agriculture.

The partnership will focus on using AI-driven research and product development to boost Borouge’s contributions to various sectors while upskilling the next generation of AI leaders. MBZUAI students will have the opportunity to intern at Borouge, gaining practical experience and professional skills, with additional workshops and seminars to further enhance their knowledge of industry advancements.

Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, CEO of Borouge, commented, “AI is a powerful catalyst for accelerating Borouge’s growth and transforming our operations. Tim Baldwin, Provost and University Professor at MBZUAI, emphasized the importance of industry collaborations, stating, “Our partnership with Borouge enables us to expand AI-powered innovation into new sectors, providing invaluable market experience for our students, researchers, and faculty.”

The three-year collaboration is a cornerstone of Borouge’s AI, digitalization, and technology (AIDT) strategy. In the first half of 2024, Borouge achieved $215 million in value creation, advancing projects across its operations, sales, and sustainability efforts.
