Oman participated in UNESCO’s Digital Week, presenting its progress in digital transformation, education technology, and ICT-driven services. The country showcased smart governance and digital learning initiatives while aligning its agenda with UNESCO’s global goals of inclusion, access, and responsible technology use.
Lebanon’s high-level roundtable on digital learning, organized by UNESCO, MEHE, and CRDP, aimed to enhance digital education in the country. Key discussions focused on blended learning during COVID-19 and the development of a National Digital Learning Strategy. The initiative aims to improve Lebanon’s education system with a focus on innovation and inclusivity.
UNESCO, in partnership with the European Union, launched the “Social Media 4 Peace” project in Iraq to address harmful online content. Workshops focused on content moderation, hate speech, and fostering cooperation among local actors. The project aims to create human rights-based governance systems to combat digital disinformation and promote peace.
UNESCO and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan co-hosted the Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2024 conference in Amman on October 30 and 31. The event focused on digital transformation, featuring discussions on AI’s role in media, youth engagement, and strategies for enhancing media literacy across various sectors.
