In a bid to achieve regional and global dominance in artificial intelligence (AI), Saudi Arabia has announced the launch of the Digital Future Readiness Program. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in collaboration with the Human Capacity Development Programme (HCDP), aims to train 7,000 residents in generative AI, giving the Gulf nation a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Following a successful pilot phase, the Ministry is now ready to roll out the program publicly, with Noon Education Company spearheading the efforts. Noon Education will partner with schools and civil organizations across the country to elevate the level of generative AI knowledge.
During the official launch event, Noon Education revealed a partnership with the Insan Association and several higher learning institutions. The event, attended by key government figures, private sector leaders, and academics, signals strong support for the ambitious project.
Deputy Minister of Communications Eng. Haitham Al-Ohali and HCDP CEO Anas Al-Mudaifer delivered keynote speeches highlighting the national benefits of investing in AI education.
This initiative builds on Saudi Arabia’s previous efforts to promote AI education, including the 2023 “Artificial Intelligence Hour” project, which introduced high school students to AI fundamentals. The Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to AI is further supported by significant investments, including a $40 billion AI fund and backing from global technology firms.
Saudi Arabia’s drive for digitization has been bolstered by capital injections from venture capital firms, including Animoca Brands, which pledged support for Web3 firms in the country. While 93% of Saudi firms have plans to integrate AI, only 8% are currently ready to implement their strategies, according to a Cisco report. The Digital Future Readiness Program aims to bridge this gap and position Saudi Arabia as a leader in AI innovation and education.
