The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has published its Quality of Service (QoS) Survey report for the second quarter of 2024, evaluating the performance of cellular mobile operators throughout the country.
The survey covered 23 cities and revealed that Zong and Jazz emerged as the top performers in several key categories, including network speed and latency. In contrast, Ufone and Telenor struggled to maintain competitive speeds and reliable connections.
Conducted over 83 days, the survey assessed operators based on critical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as data upload speeds, call connection times, SMS send times, and network latency. More than 0.38 million mobile broadband tests and 57,500 assessments of call and SMS services were performed in accordance with the Cellular Mobile Network Quality of Service (QoS) Regulations 2021.
According to the findings, Zong led with the highest download throughput, closely followed by Jazz. Ufone and Telenor posted slower results in terms of download speeds. In SMS performance, Ufone ranked highest for SMS send times, but both Telenor and Ufone had slower call connection times compared to Zong and Jazz.
Zong also achieved the lowest network latency at 26.1 ms, indicating faster data transmission, while Jazz followed at 33.7 ms. Ufone and Telenor reported slower responsiveness, with latencies of 41.9 ms and 38.7 ms, respectively.
