Zain Partners with Kuwait University to Accelerate Knowledge Economy and Digital Skills Development

Kuwait City, Kuwait – Zain has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kuwait University to strengthen the knowledge economy in Kuwait. This partnership is set to enhance collaboration in innovation, science, and technology, while also empowering the youth with essential digital skills to excel in the workforce.

The MoU was officially signed at Sabah Al-Salem University City in Shadadiya, with key figures in attendance, including Prof. Osama Al-Saeed, Acting President of Kuwait University; Nawaf Al-Gharabally, CEO of Zain Kuwait; Prof. Mohammed Al-Mulla, Vice President for Academic Support Services at Kuwait University; Waleed Al-Khashti, Chief Corporate Affairs and Relations Officer at Zain Kuwait; Dr. Fares Al-Azmi, Assistant Dean for Planning, Consultation, and Training; Zaid Dashti, Acting Head of the Computer Science Department; and Haya Al-Mana, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Expert at Zain Kuwait.

This MoU builds upon the longstanding strategic relationship between Zain and Kuwait University, which has already led to numerous successful initiatives and programs aimed at advancing Kuwait’s innovation ecosystem. The partnership will now focus on accelerating growth in critical sectors like science, technology, and innovation, which are essential to today’s job markets.

Through this collaboration, Zain and Kuwait University plan to launch various initiatives that focus on education, training, and skill development. The goal is to foster creativity and innovation by leveraging modern technologies and information-sharing platforms, making knowledge more accessible, supporting scientific research, and advancing technological development. These initiatives are aimed at improving competitiveness, especially for youth, students, and graduates.

This collaboration exemplifies the combined efforts of both the public and private sectors to support national development goals by investing in human capital to ensure sustainable economic and social growth.

The partnership is also part of Zain’s Innovation Nation initiative, which aligns with its strategic vision for sustainability. Through this initiative, Zain aims to support innovation, foster entrepreneurship, empower startups, and invest in digital skills, particularly in STEM fields.

This MoU further strengthens the ongoing partnership between Zain and Kuwait University, adding to the success of programs such as Zain’s continued support of the Kuwait National Robotics Competition (KNRC). The competition, in collaboration with the Computer Science Department at Kuwait University, the Youth Public Authority, and the Ministry of Education, aims to ignite a passion for technology among Kuwaiti students, inspire creative thinking, and encourage students to pursue careers in STEM.

Zain’s involvement in the KNRC has already seen great success, with Kuwait University’s team winning the Build Award at the VEX Robotics World Championship in the United States, following months of hard work and innovation. This accomplishment highlights the positive outcomes of public and private sector collaboration to nurture the next generation of technology leaders in Kuwait.
