Omani satellite manufacturing company Spazers has signed a strategic agreement with Australian space science company Southern Cross Space. This partnership will allow Spazers to leverage Southern Cross Space’s advanced technology to provide high-resolution satellite imagery and analytic solutions to its customers.
Tariq al Bulushi, Founder and CEO of Spazers, emphasized the importance of the collaboration, stating, “We are excited about this strategic partnership. It will enable us to offer integrated solutions, starting with obtaining high-resolution satellite imagery, and extending to analyzing it using cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies.”
Peter Kinne, Co-founder and CEO of Southern Cross Space, expressed optimism about the partnership, noting, “We are pleased to work with Spazers to bring these advanced services to the region. This cooperation will contribute to the growth of the space sector in the area.”
Spazers, established earlier this year during the 1st Middle East Space Conference in Muscat Governorate, is a joint venture between Omani ETCO Space, Polish satellite manufacturer SatRev, and tech company Tuatara. The same consortium successfully launched Oman’s first satellite, Aman-1. The company aims to provide satellite manufacturing and space launch services in Oman.
This new agreement aligns with Oman’s vision to become a regional and global hub for space activities. The government is committed to growing its digital economy, with plans to increase the space sector’s contribution to the national GDP from 2% to 5% by 2030, and 10% by 2040. The National Space Policy and Executive Programme, unveiled last year, outlines a 10-year strategy to develop the sector.
