Khalifa University and Lockheed Martin Strengthen Collaboration to Advance Aerospace and Defense Technologies in the UAE

Khalifa University of Science and Technology and Lockheed Martin have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance their collaboration in advancing aerospace and defense technologies, while also fostering human capital development in the UAE. The MoU was signed by Prof. Ebrahim Al Hajri, President of Khalifa University, and Frank St. John, Chief Operating Officer of Lockheed Martin, in a ceremony held in Abu Dhabi.

As part of the agreement, Lockheed Martin will expand its Center for Innovation and Security Solutions (CISS) to Khalifa University’s main campus, creating a collaborative platform for long-term innovation, training, and technological leadership. This expansion aims to strengthen the UAE’s position as a global leader in aerospace and defense capabilities.

Prof. Ebrahim Al Hajri expressed that the agreement is part of Khalifa University’s ongoing commitment to developing national competencies and supporting innovation in aerospace and defense sectors. He emphasized that the partnership with Lockheed Martin is a reflection of global industry confidence in the university’s ability to provide innovative solutions. He also noted that this agreement marks the culmination of a strategic cooperation that has been developing over several years.

Frank St. John highlighted that this partnership marks a key milestone in advancing aerospace and defense technologies in the UAE. He emphasized that both parties are committed to empowering local talent and driving innovation, ultimately contributing to regional security, economic growth, and prosperity.

Founded in 2014 in Masdar City, the CISS will continue its focus on pioneering research in artificial intelligence, advanced simulation technologies, autonomous systems, and data analytics. The center will serve as a hub for collaboration on real-world projects that will drive talent development and accelerate key technologies in support of the UAE’s strategic defense and aerospace goals.

This partnership reinforces Lockheed Martin’s commitment to advancing national security and aligns with the UAE’s vision of strengthening human capital development through education, innovation, and technological excellence. It also aims to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world industry applications, providing innovative solutions to address current and future challenges in the defense and aerospace sectors.
