Morocco to Lead AI Transformation at GenAI Summit Maroc 2024

Rabat – Morocco is making significant strides in transforming its corporate landscape with Artificial Intelligence (AI) through the GenAI Summit Maroc 2024. The two-day event, scheduled for December 10-11 at the Sofitel Rabat Jardin des Roses, will bring together industry leaders and experts to discuss how AI is revolutionizing key sectors such as healthcare, finance, education, and governance.

Aligned with Morocco’s Digital Morocco 2030 plan, the summit reflects the country’s commitment to becoming a leader in AI, aiming to drive economic growth and technological advancement.

“AI is a powerful tool for growth and innovation,” said Rachid Baarbi, CIO-CDO of Assurances Lyazidi. “This summit is an important step in Morocco’s digital ambitions.”

The event will feature prominent speakers, including Mimoun Ouchaou, General Manager of IBM Morocco; Abdelaziz Benyahya, CTO at AXA; Aida Kandil, CEO of MyTindy and Women in Tech leader; Samia Jnini, Global Head of Generative AI at Atos; and Mohammed Yassir Zahraoui, CIO and Information Systems Director at MASEN.

GenAI Summit Maroc 2024 has partnered with Université Mohammed VI Polytechnique (UM6P) as the knowledge partner and Women in Tech Morocco as the community partner. This collaboration aims to provide access to cutting-edge AI research and thought leadership to support Morocco’s AI evolution and digital transformation goals.

The summit will include panels, discussions, and networking sessions, with sponsors such as DXC Technologies, DELL, and Atos showcasing their latest innovations.

On a global scale, Morocco is emerging as a leader in AI adoption. A survey by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) reveals that Morocco ranks among the top countries using ChatGPT. Four in five Moroccans are familiar with the AI tool, and two in five actively use it.

Morocco’s youthful, tech-savvy population embraces AI for various purposes, from school and work to everyday tasks. AI is increasingly being used to solve real-life problems, manage finances, and improve productivity.

Globally, India leads AI usage with one in two people using ChatGPT, while developed nations like the United States lag behind.
