Bahrain Network (BNET), the national provider of fiber-based broadband networks in Bahrain, has successfully completed the strategic transfer of Zain Bahrain’s fixed-fiber backhaul network assets. The agreement, finalized on December 12, 2024, marks a significant milestone in the country’s telecommunications sector.
To facilitate the asset transfer, BNET introduced the ‘Network Right of Use’ service, followed by the ‘Unmanaged Mobile Backhaul Service,’ both aimed at supporting mobile network operations and ensuring equitable access to infrastructure. Zain Bahrain has collaborated closely with BNET throughout the year to ensure a smooth transition, as stated in an official release.
Ahmed Jaber Alhogbani Aldoseri, CEO of BNET, expressed, “This achievement underscores the importance of our ongoing collaboration with Zain Bahrain to enhance Bahrain’s telecommunications sector. This agreement is a major step toward realizing the government’s vision and reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a regional leader in telecommunications and technological innovation. We are excited to continue working with industry organizations to achieve this national goal.”
Mohammed Zainalabedin, Managing Director of Zain Bahrain, remarked, “This milestone reflects our strong commitment to advancing Bahrain’s telecom sector in line with the government’s strategic objectives. This step will further elevate Bahrain’s status as a key regional player and contribute to the development of a progressive digital economy. Zain Bahrain has ensured a seamless transition to maintain its network performance and continue providing exceptional services to our customers.”
