China’s tech giant Huawei and Tunisia’s El-Khawarizmi Computing Center (CCK) hosted the CCK-Huawei Technology Summit 2024 on Tuesday in Tunis, aiming to enhance Tunisia’s smart education initiatives.
At the summit, Tunisian Minister of Communication Technologies, Sofiene Hemissi, highlighted that education has become one of Tunisia’s top national priorities, with the country gradually adopting technological advances to foster innovation.
Hemissi further expressed pride in Tunisia’s partnership with Huawei, emphasizing the summit as a significant opportunity to develop Tunisia’s educational strategies through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies to build a better future for the country’s next generations.
CCK Director General Saoussen Krichen praised Huawei’s professional, fast, and efficient services, calling it a strategic and trusted partner in Tunisia’s technological development.
The CCK, which provides internet services for higher education and scientific research, works alongside Huawei to enhance Tunisia’s digital infrastructure. Huawei has implemented the first higher education and research cloud computing system in Tunisia, which enables 14 Tunisian universities to utilize AI and big data technologies, according to Qin Zhaobing, Huawei’s vice president for Northern Africa.
Huawei has forged strategic partnerships with 68 Tunisian universities, and more than 7,000 students have joined the Huawei Information and Communication Technologies Academy in Tunisia. Looking ahead, Huawei plans to support the Tunisian government over the next five years by training an additional 10,000 digital talents in 5G, cloud computing, and AI.
